How to Measure
Check that there are no central heating pipes, door handles or window latches and other obstacles in the way.
Use a steel tape measure, not a cloth tape as these can stretch. We are making your blind to the millimeter so exact measurements are critical.
Decide whether the blind be installed inside the recess or outside the recess?
If the blind is to be fitted inside the recess:
Measure the width of the frame both at the top and the bottom.
Measure the length of the frame both left and right.
Order the smallest measured width and height sizes (in mm) this is called
'Recess size'
If the blind is to be fitted outside the recess/window frame:
Measure the width of the frame both at the top and the bottom.
Measure the length of the frame both left and right.
Determine how much the product is to overlap the frame add the two together
and order in mm. this is called 'blind size'
A clearance allowance is deducted in manufacture of the blind from width. This is so the product hangs freely in the recess.
Exact Size / Blind size:
The product is supplied exactly to the size that has been ordered. Make
sure of the allowances yourself, so that the product will hang freely
in the frame!
When you have finished measuring, measure again, just to be sure. Once your blind has been made it can very rarely be altered.
Important note for measuring Roller blinds & other blinds with a side operation.
We have to allow for the fittings and side control mechanism in the
overall size of the blind, this means the fabric will be less than the
size ordered. This applies to both Recess and Exact sizes. You do not
need to make any adjustments, we will make all the allowances for you.
