How to Measure

 

Measuring for inside a Recess

First ensure that the recess your blind is going into is not obstructed in any way so the blind can hang freely when fully extended. Look out for protruding tiles, pipes, skirting boards etc.

Measure the width from A to B and the drop from C to D (see diagram to the right). We recommend you do this in several places to allow for any slight size variation and note down the smallest measurements to the nearest millimetre. If you prefer you can measure in inches or centimeters, and order that way.

We will make your blind smaller to fit into the recess. 
There is no need for you to make any adjustments. THIS IS CALLED RECESS SIZE

Your Blind will arrive about 5-10mm smaller, so it hangs freely and fits perfect within the recess

This blind will have a narrower fabric width than the total blind size ordered. This is to accommodate the side controls, casette etc. 

Measuring for outside a recess or Exact

 Decide how much you want to overlap the blind on all sides - we recommend this should be at least 50mm (2 inches) each side in most instances.

Carefully measure the width from E to F (see the diagram to your right) and the drop from G to H and note down the smallest measurements to the nearest millimetre. If you prefer you can measure in inches or centimeters, and order that way.

REMEMBER  the fabric will be less than the overall width of the blind/sizes given, so you must allow for this.

We will make your blind to your exact sizes.

Measuring for Bay Window

  1. Determine the depth of the blinds you are mounting and use this for the width of your cardboard: 
    Contact us for Blind depths.
  2. Cut two pieces of cardboard (depth determined from 1 above) wide by 30cm (12") long.
    Important: If spacer blocks or extension brackets will be used for extra clearance on outside mounts, add the amount of extra clearance to the width dimension of the cardboard before measuring.
  3. Place the strips in the left angle first, and bring them together until the front corners of the cardboard meet. Mark points "A" and "B".
  4. Repeat this step for the right side angle, marking points "C" and "D".
  5. Measure between points "B" and "C" to obtain the width measurement of the center blind.
  6. Measure from point "A" outward to the desired width to obtain the width measurement of the left blind.
  7. Measure from point "D" outward to the desired width to obtain the width measurement of the right blind.
  8. Deduct about 5mm from each of your measurements to allow for clearance, and order Exact

Headrail Sizes

Medium Cassette is standard with 50mm & 75mm Vanes
Large Cassette with 100mm Vanes

On request the small cassette can be used on 50mm vane widths with a short drop. 

Product Notes

Light leakage is most noticeable with Bon Soir fabrics because of its light-dimming characteristics. 
Vanes do not contact each other along the full drop of the blind- they do not form a perfect seal against light leakage. This is most visible at the bottom area of the blind. This applies to all fabrics inc Bon Soir which is a room darkening fabric not a black-out blind. 

Vane closure is measured and checked as the distance between the front and rear facing fabrics. It is taken 150mm from the lowest point of the blind. All 50mm blinds with a drop under 1500mm the vane closure is 16mm, for blinds over 1500mm the closure is 22mm. For 75mm and 100mm vaned blinds the closure is 25mm.

Side by Side Alignment
When ordering Silhouette's to be installed side by side, vane alignment can be guaranteed within 6mm only if;
The drop is the same.
Blinds are the same fabric, ordered at the same time.
The combined widths to be aligned do not exceed 2600mm otherwise vane alignment may vary by up to 25mm between blinds.

 

Recess Size reductions is 5mm from the width and drop.

 

When mounting in a ceiling rebate ab additional 25mm is required in front of the headbox to postion the blind in to the brackets.

 

Minor rippling may occur in the voile section attached to the bottom bar.
Luxaflex consider this to be within specification and not a fault of the product.
